AI-native law firms are building legal delivery around technology, lawyer oversight and pricing that rewards efficiency. Falcon, launched in Belgium and backed by former Allen & Overy senior partner Wim Dejonghe, is one example.
The wider model combines in-house technology, access to external investment and predominantly fixed-fee work. Some firms also waive fees when delivery is late, taking on more of the commercial risk.
How Falcon puts it into practice
Falcon’s system combines language models, AI agents and proprietary legal playbooks. Clients can request contract reviews through Slack, with agents handling intake, analysis, research and initial drafting.
Lawyers check, amend and sign off the work. A scoping agent identifies their changes, and a legal engineer reviews those differences for potential inclusion in the playbooks.
Knowledge about matters, clients and counterparties can then inform future work. Falcon’s key measure is the time a lawyer spends reviewing a contract, which it aims to reduce.
Its initial focus covers commercial agreements, data processing agreements and NDAs. Plans include adding local legal expertise for international expansion and developing a system that proactively identifies clients’ legal issues.
The DealTechno take
For LegalTech founders, this is a useful signal about where customer expectations could move.
When a business earns a fixed fee, time spent correcting output affects its margin. Software that fits the workflow, captures useful feedback and reduces repeat work has a clear commercial purpose.
The people connecting legal judgement with product development matter here. Falcon gives legal engineering a concrete responsibility within that process, helping make the role easier to understand than the title alone.
