Frontline Managed Services has acquired KL Software Technologies and its affiliate KLoBot, launching a new business called Frontline Intelligent Applications.
Announced on 6 October, the deal follows a partnership between the companies earlier this year. It combines Frontline’s legal operations and managed services experience with KL Software’s Microsoft Cloud, engineering and AI capabilities.
What comes together
The new business covers technology strategy, implementation, ongoing application management and proprietary legal software.
Its scope includes Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Azure, Microsoft Copilot, iManage and NetDocuments. Applications including KLapper, Legal101, netDocShare and imDocShare bring content, workflows and AI into tools law firms already use.
KL Software founder Ragav Jagannathan will lead the portfolio, overseeing product strategy, engineering and software delivery.
Frontline customers will gain access to KL Software’s applications and specialist expertise through their existing relationship. KL Software customers will gain access to Frontline’s broader services and global delivery capabilities.
A product still needs a route into the customer
For a software business, getting the product built is one challenge. Getting it embedded in a customer’s working day is another.
This deal connects specialist applications with an established provider that can help implement, integrate and manage them. That combination gives the acquisition a commercial story beyond expanding the product catalogue.
A good demo opens a conversation. Making the software work alongside the customer’s existing systems helps turn that conversation into lasting use.
The DealTechno take
Our reading of this deal is that implementation expertise and customer relationships deserve as much attention as product capability when planning growth.
For LegalTech teams, that means thinking carefully about who owns the work between a sale and a successful deployment. Engineering, solutions and customer-facing roles need to connect closely enough to deliver what the commercial team promises.
